Re-stretching Process

1. Disassembling the necklace: First, the necklace is carefully disassembled. Each pearl is removed from the old, possibly worn or weakened cord.
2. Inspecting the pearls: Each pearl is carefully inspected for any possible damage or wear. This step is crucial to ensure that all pearls are in good condition before they are re-strung.
3. Preparing the new cord: I use the highest quality silk or nylon cords known for their durability and flexibility. The cord is cut to the appropriate length for the necklace.
4. Using the tube: The tube, a small metal or plastic piece, is placed on the ends of the cord to protect it from rubbing with the clasp. This helps prevent premature wear of the cord and extends the life of the necklace.
5. Knots between beads: An important aspect of re-stringing is placing knots between each bead. These knots serve several functions:
    • Protection: In the event of a cord break, the knots prevent all the beads from falling apart, allowing only one bead to be lost.
    • Spacing: The knots ensure even spacing between beads, emphasizing their beauty and symmetry.
    • Friction prevention: They prevent the beads from rubbing against each other, which could cause damage and wear over time.
6. Final assembly: After the knots are placed, the necklace is reassembled and the clasp is attached, making sure all components are tight and secure.
